Objective

Alat is reshaping the Kingdom’s economy with a massive investment portfolio of $100 billion. To support this mission, Alat required a digital presence that conveyed immediate authority and massive scale. The platform serves as the central hub for nine strategic business sectors, including Semiconductors, Smart Buildings, and AI Infrastructure, showcasing over 30+ innovative product categories to a global audience of investors and partners. Alat approached GTECH to take over, optimise, and scale their existing website, built on a complex React tech stack.

Challenge

  • High-Stakes Reliability: As the primary source of truth for global investors, the website demanded 100% uptime. Any visual error or downtime would have immediate reputational consequences.
  • Extreme Content Velocity: Alat frequently announces major joint ventures (e.g., with Carrier, SoftBank, Lenovo) that require immediate, complex updates. We needed to add entirely new sections or “Strategic Business Units” (SBUs) overnight without disrupting live operations.
  • Global Linguistic Complexity: The platform needed to speak native business languages to key markets in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. This required managing 7 distinct language locales (including English, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and Dutch) simultaneously. The challenge was ensuring that the complex React UI remained consistent across vastly different scripts and text directions (RTL vs. LTR).

Solution

GTECH implemented a rigorous maintenance and expansion strategy, transforming the inherited codebase into a globally scalable engine.
1. Component-Based Expansion: To solve the “Content Velocity” challenge, GTECH refactored and optimised the React component library. This allowed us to spin up entirely new SBU pages by assembling pre-tested UI blocks. This modular approach significantly reduced development time, enabling us to launch complex partnership pages the moment contracts were signed.

2. Multilingual Architecture & Localisation: We re-engineered the front-end architecture to seamlessly handle 7 languages.

  • Script Compatibility: We optimised typography and layout logic to accommodate the density of Chinese and Japanese characters, as well as the RTL requirements of Arabic, ensuring the design remained pixel-perfect in every region.
  • Unified Deployment: We streamlined the deployment pipeline so that a content update in English could be rapidly localised and pushed to the Chinese or Dutch versions of the site without requiring separate codebases, ensuring a unified brand voice across all markets.

3. Performance Engineering: Despite the heavy use of rich media and the overhead of managing multiple language states, we optimised the React rendering path. This ensured instant load times for international users, whether they were accessing the site from New York, Riyadh, or Tokyo.

Results

  • Zero-Downtime Expansion: GTECH successfully executed over 50+ critical content updates and section launches with zero service interruptions.
  • Global Reach: The flawless implementation of 7 languages has enabled Alat to effectively engage with partners in key manufacturing hubs across Asia and Europe.
  • Scalable Architecture: We successfully expanded the site architecture to house the growing list of 30+ product categories across all nine business sectors.

Conclusion

The Alat project highlights GTECH’s reliability in handling large-scale, high-stakes government infrastructure. By mastering the React architecture and complex multilingual localisation, we provided Alat with a platform that is as dynamic, global, and ambitious as the manufacturing hub itself.
