Objective
The Technology Innovation Institute (TII) launched the SIGIR 2025 LiveRAG Challenge, a premier global competition aimed at advancing Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) technology in Large Language Models (LLMs). The initiative required a dedicated, high-performing microsite to serve as the central hub for the challenge. GTECH was tasked with the end-to-end frontend website development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The objective was to create a streamlined, informative, and visually engaging digital platform where research teams from academia and industry could learn about the challenge, access guidelines, track important dates, and navigate the application process.
Challenge
TII needed to quickly deploy a highly functional and accessible website to support a complex, multi-stage global AI challenge. The primary hurdle was presenting dense, highly technical information, such as evaluation metrics, synthetic benchmark tools (DataMorgana), dataset specifics, and strict timelines, in a way that was easy to digest for a highly specialised audience of developers and researchers. Additionally, the platform needed to establish credibility and excitement, reflecting the high-stakes nature of the competition (with major tech partners like AWS, Pinecone, AI71, and Hugging Face involved) while ensuring seamless performance without the overhead of a heavy backend system.

Solution
To address these requirements, GTECH focused on a lightweight, high-speed frontend execution combined with a clean, modern aesthetic:
- Strategic Design & UX: GTECH implemented a clean, highly structured layout tailored for a technical, academic and industry audience. The design utilises a professional colour palette, likely leveraging TII’s brand colours (often deep blues, purples, and high-contrast whites/greys for readability), to establish an authoritative yet modern tech feel. The information architecture was meticulously organised using distinct modular sections, clear typography, and easily scannable tables for critical data like the “Challenge Calendar” and “Challenge Results.”
- Frontend Development (HTML/CSS/JS): The site was built using a robust stack of pure HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This approach guaranteed lightning-fast load times and a highly responsive user experience across all devices. GTECH utilised custom CSS styling for distinct visual hierarchies, making sure key calls-to-action (like deadlines and submission links) stood out. JavaScript was subtly employed to manage interactive elements like the mobile hamburger menu, smooth scrolling between informational anchors, and dynamic data presentation (such as the accordion-style dropdowns for guidelines and terms).
- Clear Data Presentation: GTECH successfully translated complex application processes, eligibility criteria, and technical RAG index requirements into visually distinct blocks and tables, ensuring participants could effortlessly navigate the challenge workflow from the “Dry test” phase to the “Live Challenge Day.”

Results
The bespoke website effectively served as the authoritative digital anchor for the SIGIR 2025 LiveRAG Challenge. It’s fast, responsive, and highly organised frontend successfully funnelled global AI research teams through a complex application and submission pipeline. The platform successfully supported the dissemination of critical information to 40 selected teams, ultimately leading to a successful “Live Challenge Day” where 25 global teams submitted valid answers under strict time constraints.

Conclusion
The development of the LiveRAG Challenge website underscores GTECH’s ability to deliver rapid, high-quality, and structurally sound frontend solutions tailored for specialised tech sectors. By relying on a streamlined HTML, CSS, and JS stack, GTECH provided TII with a fast, reliable, and visually compelling platform that effectively bridged the gap between complex AI research initiatives and a global participant base.
