03/ Registration Portal

The registration portal is a platform where Government entities can register to participate in the Government Games under male and female categories. Each team is to assign a team captain, who then invites their teammates. The teammates have the option to either accept or decline the invite.

The registration form includes capturing relevant information of the participant, ie Visa, Passport, Emirates ID, Emergency Contacts, E-wavier form and Athlete Kit size.

Emails – The registration platform is integrated with the GovGames e-mail server to ensure all communication is being sent out through the official email address.

Export Feature – The admin panel allows export of data ranging from team, athletes, gender, and cities.

Dashboard – The admin panel consists of a dashboard that provides live updates on the number of athletes and teams in the system.

04/ Check-in System

The check-in system is closely tied to the registration system, which keeps track of teams and its athletes who have checked in on the day of the tournament.

Every athlete can check either via Facial Recognition, Emirates ID, Passport number or Mobile number.

05/ T-shirt System

This system is tightly integrated with the registration system. It keeps track of the quantity of T-shirts to be allocated based on the size and color allotment data in the registration system.

The system also keeps track of people who have collected their Gov Games Kit from selected vendors.

06/ Scoreboard App

We also built a scoring system, that takes into account the cumulative scores of teams across each obstacle course. Each obstacle course is broken down into 3 stages, the cumulative score of each team based on the number of player that pass each stage are captured by the iPads.

07/ iPads

A set of 65 iPads were deployed on-site, which were issued to 5 lane referees and 1 obstacle referee at each obstacle course.

The iPad application has 2 user profiles and permission levels:

  • Obstacle Referee
    • Obstacle referee has a dashboard to monitor teams progress
    • Obstacle referee has the option to appeal

  • Lane Referee
    • The application helped the lane referee mark the completion of the 3 stages a team needed to complete in order to complete the obstacle course.
    • The iPad pre-assigns teams that the referee is to expect on his/her lane
    • The iPads captured the timestamp at each stage.
    • The lane referee’s had an option to charge the team with 3 types of penalties – Green, Yellow and Red Card. All penalty’s recorded would reflect in the scoring system in real-time.
      • Green Card – Verbal warnings
      • Yellow Card – Penalty issued if a team fails to comply with the competition’s rules, which deducts 5 points from the team’s total score.
      • Red Card – Disqualification of the team due to grave offence

08/ Raspberry Pi & Physical button

At the end of each obstacle course, the teams has to push a physical button, which would mark the completion of all stages of the obstacle course. Every team had to ensure that each team member presses the button to mark each stage as completed.

These buttons were integrated with a Raspberry Pi unit which was configured to capture the timestamp on when the button had been pressed. The timestamp data is then sent to the scoreboard system, for calculations of the team’s score based on the timestamp.
