Objective

The Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) required a sophisticated digital platform for the inaugural Governance of Emerging Technologies Summit (GETS) 2025. As a global gathering of policymakers, tech giants, and academic leaders in Abu Dhabi, the event needed a website that conveyed authority, innovation, and urgency. The primary goal was to create a central hub for the “Shaping Responsible Governance of AI” narrative while managing a rapidly evolving roster of VIP speakers and agenda details.

Challenge

  • High-Stakes Timeline: With the event attracting global attention, the window for design and development was compressed. The site needed to go live quickly to support registration and press announcements.
  • Content Volatility: As is typical with high-level government summits, the agenda and speaker list (featuring ministers and global CEOs) were in constant flux. The team needed a system to add new sections, such as “Media Partners” or “Live Agenda”, hours before the event without breaking the site’s visual integrity.
  • Design Expectation: The aesthetic had to balance “government protocol” with “futuristic innovation,” reflecting themes like Quantum Computing and Web3 without looking like a generic tech startup.

Solution

GTECH designed and developed a bespoke WordPress website centered on agility and high-impact visuals.

1. Strategic UI/UX Design

  • Visual Identity: We crafted a sleek, dark-mode-inspired interface that utilises subtle motion effects and abstract geometric data visualisations. This design language reinforced the summit’s focus on complex, emerging technologies.
  • Information Hierarchy: Recognising that attendees include busy C-level executives, we designed a “glanceable” UI. The homepage prioritises immediate access to the Programme, Speakers, and Venue details, stripping away unnecessary clutter.

2. Agile WordPress Development

  • Custom Block Architecture: To solve the “quick turnaround” challenge, GTECH built a library of reusable Gutenberg blocks. This allowed the content team to spin up entirely new pages in minutes by dragging and dropping pre-styled components.
  • Dynamic Speaker Management: We developed a custom “Speaker Post Type” that automatically linked speakers to their respective sessions in the agenda. This meant that updating a speaker’s bio in one place instantly propagated changes across the entire site, saving critical time during the event run-up.

3. Rapid Deployment & Scalability

  • Just-in-Time Updates: In the final days leading up to May 5th, GTECH’s team worked in lockstep with the organisers to deploy last-minute sections, including a downloadable “Green Paper” resource and real-time session modification notices.
  • Performance Optimisation: Knowing the site would face traffic spikes during the opening keynote, we implemented aggressive caching and image optimisation (WebP formats) to ensure instant load times for international users on mobile networks.

Results

  • Seamless Onboarding: The intuitive UX facilitated a smooth registration process for over 1,500 global delegates.
  • Operational Agility: The flexible WP CMS allowed for over 50+ rapid content updates in the 48 hours prior to the event with zero downtime or layout issues.
  • Brand Authority: The polished, high-tech design established GETS as a premier global forum from its very first edition, aligning perfectly with Abu Dhabi’s vision as a leader in tech governance.

Conclusion

The GETS 2025 project highlights GTECH’s ability to deliver high-pressure, high-profile event websites. By leveraging the flexibility of WordPress and a modular design system, we provided the ATRC with a digital platform that was as dynamic and forward-thinking as the summit itself.
